Worried About Earthquake Damage?

If you're worried about serious house damage from all the recent earthquakes, let the president of the Oklahoma State Homebuilders Association put your mind at ease. "Most of these wood frame structures that are dry-walled with brick veneers are going to do just fine," says Todd Booze. "I don't feel like there's any reason to be overly concerned." He says houses are flexible. "They move with changing soil conditions, when you go from really wet times to really dry times. A house can be designed to move anywhere from one to two inches in this area."

He says you might get cracks in your drywall or brick mortar, but that is no indication of serious structural damage.
