Dems Call For DOC, DPS Funding Increase

Among those urging state lawmakers to pass meaningful reform to help fund the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Corrections, is retired Democratic Representative Paul Roan of Tishomingo.

"If we don't do something to fund D.O.C., I think we could see some riots at our prisons. I really do," Roan told KTOK.

Roan is also a retired state trooper. He said he thinks a majority of lawmakers seem to think it's more important to give Oklahomans a small income tax cut, rather than increasing funding to hire more prison workers and state troopers.

Roan said the last time state workers received a pay raise was in 2006.
